4593Luftwaffe Flight Mechanic Overalls - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Flight Mechanic Overalls - A fine replica example which we understand to be a film prop surplus item, although we have no information on the movie it may have starred in. In excellent used condition with nice age patina. While belt loops are attached, the belt itself is absent. No size labelling but would certainly fit someone of 6' + (183cm). Ideal for the re-enactor or for a mannequin display.A Recent Sale
2593Italian/Luftwaffe Flight Jacket - Click for the bigger pictureSoldItalian/Luftwaffe Flight Jacket - This is an interesting one! When purchased we were advised that this jacket had belonged to a Luftwaffe crew member in WWII. In general terms the design is similar to the blue grey summer jacket but intriguingly it features a dark sheepskin lining which has been made up so it buttons into the jacket. This can be completely removed together with the fur collar attachment and could therefore be used in both summer and winter conditions. The jacket has no nomenclature of any description and it has almost certainly be made up as a private purchase item, perhaps to the original owner's specification. The main zip which has a double puller arrangement is made by Zipp and while in working order, the runner feed is a little tender. The sleeve zips are also by Zipp but to a different design and are in working order. In photographing the jacket, we have detected a stitch imprint which appears to indicate where a Luftwaffe breast eagle has been removed. The jacket is a good size.
We have just been contacted by Mick Prodger who has helped ID our jacket:
'It's a beautiful jacket - and a rare item. But it isn't private purchase and it isn't German. It's Italian!
The quality of Italian air force stuff was staggering - like Armani was in the flying jacket business!
The Luftwaffe eagle may have been added post war, although it wouldn't surprise me at all if some Luftwaffe pilots wore the jacket during the war - after all they were allies until 1943 and the Brits/Americans wore each other's gear.
Zipp was an international company and you will find Canadian, Australian, US and many European items (as well as German) with Zipp brand zips. However the little teardrop puller is very characteristic of Italian design. Nice too that it still has it's button in fur liner'.
Thanks for that Mick and we are all wiser now!

3789Luftwaffe Grey Leather Flying Jacket - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Grey Leather Flying Jacket - This example is in excellent issued condition. Zip closure to front as well as on chest pocket and arm and all in good working order. NATO woven AWAC badge to front and German flags on both shoulders. There is evidence of pilot's wings and other badges which have been removed. The jacket is fitted with a bright orange lining and was designed to be reversible as an aid to rescue in an emergency. The lining is marked with a large letter A. The knitted waist band, cuffs and collar show signs of wear, but are in generally good condition. An original label is fitted indicating GR14 186-100 and the manufacturing date of 11/89. This jacket is a generous size and has a further label indicating 14, but we would estimate it would comfortably fit up to a 44" chest (112cm). I own one of these jackets myself and can pass on my personal recommendation!A Recent Sale
3496Luftwaffe Winter Flying Jacket for flight over land - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Winter Flying Jacket for flight over land - Manufactured in blue/grey cloth with fur lining and a dark brown collar. This jacket would appear to be late war production with button closure, rather than the snaps which we would normally expect to see on this pattern. The sleeve zips are brass and manufactured by Zipp, while the main zip is a late war economy plastic zip by Ri-Ri. This jacket has seen heavy useage and as well as service grime, the right arm has had extensive repairs, but these do not detract and makes an extremely good display example. The interior fur lining is generally sound, while there is some moulting to the fur collar. It is a good size being about a 42" chest (107cm). Whilst we have seen better examples, original Luftwaffe WWII flight jackets are getting hard to find and this is a good honest example.A Recent Sale
3442Luftwaffe Leather Flight Suit - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Leather Flight Suit - Manufactured in soft grey leather with a rayon lining. It has a full length zip fastening to the front with further Ri-Ri zips to wrist, ankles and pockets. All are functioning and one ankle zip has been replaced. The interior label is marked Beckumer Lederwerk and while is it not dated, we believe this to be a post war suit. The size label indicates 50 and the suit is a good size and would fit someone around 72" tall (103cm) . It has some service wear and minor repairs, but is generally sound and is a warm, comfortable and useable example.A Recent Sale
PC50Luftwaffe Flying Boots - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Flying Boots - In good original condition and looking at the design and specification, appear to date from mid to late WWII. Black leather uppers with black leather/beige nubuck legs. Fitted with original Wilop bump pattern soles. Both zips are functioning; the right boot carries a metal example by Rapid, while the left has a economy plastic Ri-Ri which looks to be a wartime replacement. All straps are complete, although there are minor variations between the buckle arrangements, so may have been mis-matched at some stage, but appear to have been worn as a pair. These were purchased direct from Germany in nice original condition and showing normal service wear. No labels are fitted, but we estimate to be about a UK 9, USA 9 1/2, Continental 43.A Recent Sale
3444Luftwaffe fur lined Flying Boots - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe fur lined Flying Boots - This pair came in with the Luftwaffe suit we have recently listed and are post war examples in good original condition. They feature black grained leather uppers, cleated rubber soles with zip and strap fastenings. We cannot decipher the actual size, but they would appear to align to a UK size 9 (Continental 43). A durable and useable pair of boots at a modest price.A Recent Sale
3572Luftwaffe Officer's Belt - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Officer's Belt - A fine original example in tan leather, complete with double pronged pebbled finish buckle. Minor staining to the leather and like many examples we see, the retaining loop for the belt end is absent, but this does not detract and it is perfect for a mannequin display or for re-enactment. It does not have any manufacturer's marks or date stamp and is a good size measuring 46" (117cm)A Recent Sale

2704Luftwaffe Single Zip Flying Boots - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Single Zip Flying Boots - These are becoming increasing hard to find and this pair have clearly seen significant service use. The leg sections have been heavily repaired. In addition, the boots are fitted with period Lightning zips. The soles appear original, while the heel top pieces have been replaced. The leather shoe section is in excellent condition and these would make a perfect pair for a mannequin display (particularly if the flying suit or trousers worn over the legs), but these boots are definitely not wearers!A Recent Sale
2903Luftwaffe Aircrew Flying Boots - Click for the bigger pictureSoldLuftwaffe Aircrew Flying Boots - This pair is as issued and in the condition we dream of, but rarely find! They are totally original in every respect and would be hard to better. The black leather sections are soft and supple, while the beige nubuck leg tops show minor staining. The zips are marked Ri Ri and D.R.P. and the boots have the original cloth manufacturer's labels. We estimate the size to be about UK 8, Continental 42, US 8 1/2. The soles are original and show minimal wear. We will wait a long time to find such an exceptional example of these increasingly rare boots.A Recent Sale
