| 4704 |  |  | Trinity House Totland Bay Pilot Station Sign Board - Manufactured from hardwood (probably teak) with a varnished finish and recessed lettering picked out in red paint. Totland Bay pier, situation on the Isle of Wight off Southern England was built in 1881 and acted as a landing stage for steamers. In WWI it became a military look out station and in WWII was sectioned for fear of a German invasion. In 1971 it was purchased by Trinity House for £10,000 for use as a base for TH pilot boats. In 1978 the pier was damaged by fire and closed. Our sign is a unique souvenir that will appeal to Trinity House collectors or to those with associations with Totland Bay. | 4465 |  | | Kriegsmarine Silver Cutlery Rest - we understand this tool to have been used in the Officers' Mess for formal meals to enable cutlery to be rested between courses to prevent soiling of the table cloth. We have, however, been unable to positively identify, so if any of our Kriegsmarine collectors can give us confirmation, it would be appreciated. The item is stamped on the base with a fine Waffen Ampt and a large M below. It is also marked with 90 which we believe confirms the grade of silver used and beside this is a maker's mark. | PC33 |  | | HMS Plymouth Falklands War Souvenir - This item features a framed black and white photograph of HMS Plymouth a Rothesay Class Frigate which entered service in 1959. The picture includes an original sailor's cap band from the Plymouth and is signed in ink by David Pentreath who was the Captain of the Plymouth during the Falklands war. The Argentinian surrender was signed by Lt. Cdr. Alfredo Astiz on board the Plymouth and Captains Pentreath and Barker (of HMS Endurance) accepted the surrender. Minor ageing to the photograph but a unique item to Falklands war collectors. Measures 16.5" x 13.5" (42cm x 34cm). | £45.00 |

Naming Ceremony Presentation Award - This item is in the form of a soap stone whale mounted on a hard wood base which is carved with the inscription "Presented to Lady Thomas on the occasion of the naming of H.M.C.S. Victoria 6th October, 2000." H.M.C.S. Victoria (SSK 876) is a long range Hunter Killer submarine and is named after the city of Victoria in British Columbia. She originally served with the Royal Navy as H.M.S. Unseen (S41), between 1989-2000. The soap stone has been used as a carving material for thousands of years and is widely used in Eskimo art. This whale is particularly nicely executed, although he has a minor chip to the tail fluke and fin, so here is your opportunity to purchase a very unique example of fish and chips!! We have no information on Lady Thomas but assume she was probably responsible for the naming of this boat.

| 2410 |  | | SS Otranto Presentation Cup - The SS Otranto was built by Vickers in 1925, weighed 20,000 tons and carried 1686 passengers. She was subsequently used as a troop ship and survived WWII. This cup carries the ship's crest in relief and below a presentation engraving dated April 11th, 1927. It is named to Lieut. F. J. Boswell RN, who was the winner of the ship's sports on that date with no less than four firsts and one second! The cup appears to be EPNS and is in very good condition. | OC214 |  | | HMS Benbow Trench Art - A solid brass tray, probably fashioned from a shell casing with ornate scalloped edges and a fine engraved image of a part women/part bird with the legend HMS Benbow 1924. Benbow was a 25,000 Battle Ship built for the Royal Navy in 1913 and she served throughout WW1 including the battle of Jutland where she escaped any damage. She was paid off and broken up in 1931.This item was no doubt crafted by a crew member in 1924 when she was serving in the Mediterranean as a unique gift for his wife, girlfriend or family member. | 3199 |  |  | Royal Navy Ditty Box - A pine box which was issued to sailors so as to keep their personal possessions, including letters from home, safe and private. They were all made to a standard design and size. This example carries a brass plate to the front with the original owner's name H. Eldridge. Our research indicates a Herbert Eldridge was a boy first class sailor service no. J/37894 and he served aboard HMS Queen Mary in WWI. He sadly died in action on the first day of the Battle of Jutland on the 31st May, 1916 aged 16. He is remembered with honour on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. | 3203 |  | | Royal Navy Cigarette Case - An early 20th century hallmarked silver cigarette case with Royal Navy connections. The front carries a family coat of arms and initials below. These show some wear and while the initals are not entirely clear, they may be CFH. The reverse is engraved with 20 Royal Navy ships' names and beside each a corresponding date, which appears to indicate the time served on each vessel. The first entry is for HMS Britannia from January 1905 and the final posting is for HMS Vernon in November 1921. Throughout WWI he served on HMS Blenheim (Feb 1914-August 1918). Some of the early engravings are a little worn, but it is possible to decipher HMS Isis, Eclipse, Africa, Greenwich, Excellent, Stranner, Monarch, Irresistible, Erin, Caledon, Curacoa. The case is hallmarked Birmingham 1907 with maker's mark A&JZ. It measures 3.5" x 3" (9 cm x 8 cm). Generally good condition with minor service wear. | £125.00 |
| 2378 |  | | Ale House Tankard - Original tankard finely engraved to the front "Ye Olde Boat Inne Alcester." Manufactured in brass, the tankard would have been used in a public house and the engraving would effectively be an early form of property mark to ensure the tankard remained on the premises! | 2725 |  | | H.M.T.B. 27 Presentation Item - An attractive EPNS preserve set complete with two glass dishes. To the front of the base is finely engraved HMTB 27, presented to Mr. & Mrs. Enever from Mess Mates, November 1917. While we have no direct provenance, we can only assume Mr. Enever was a crew member of Torpedo Boat 27 in WWI and this was perhaps presented by his crew mates on the occasion of his wedding? The base is stamped EPNS, a maker's mark and the number 5778. The chrome finish shows minor age wear, but overall in extremely nice condition. Torpedo Boat 27 was 127 feet long, weighed 60 tons and built by Thornycroft in 1880. She was sold out of service 2.10.19. | £95.00 |
